Think your photos are always blurry, badly framed, or just… off? Does your girlfriend always complain about your photography skills? Well. That might finally work in your favour.

Icelandair has launched a quirky global campaign that flips the script on travel photography. How so? By searching for the world’s “worst photographer.” And yes, the reward is as good as it sounds.

A Dream Trip for Imperfect Photos

The selected candidate will receive an all-expenses-paid 10-day trip to Iceland, taking place in June 2026. On top of that, there’s a US$50,000 payout for photographs, content creation, and participation in the campaign.

Even better? Your photos could be featured in a global campaign, opening the door to unexpected recognition, despite (or because of) your less-than-perfect photography skills.

Why Iceland?

With its dramatic waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers, and northern landscapes, Iceland is often seen as a photographer’s paradise.

That’s exactly the point. The campaign aims to prove that even in one of the world’s most photogenic destinations, you don’t need perfect skills to capture something memorable.

Who Are They Looking For?

Surprisingly, the ideal candidate isn’t a photographer at all.

In fact, you might be perfect if:

  • You have no professional photography experience

  • You don’t overthink taking photos

  • You often feel disappointed with your shots

  • But occasionally get lucky with a surprisingly good one

  • You’re comfortable being on camera and sharing your journey

In short, they’re looking for someone real, relatable—and refreshingly unpolished.

What You’ll Be Doing

The chosen “bad photographer” will travel across Iceland, taking photos and documenting the journey.

You’ll also take part in outdoor activities, so being comfortable with hiking and exploring rugged terrain is essential.

This isn’t just about snapping photos; it’s about experiencing Iceland in an authentic, unfiltered way.

How to Apply

Applications are open until 30 April 2026.

To enter, you’ll need to:

  • Answer six simple questions

  • Optionally submit a short video sharing your funniest or worst photo fails

Is This Your Moment?

For many travellers, there’s always that one friend who takes amazing photos—and then there’s the rest of us.

This campaign is a refreshing reminder that travel isn’t about perfection. It’s about the experience.

And who knows? Your worst photos might just take you to one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Apply here.
