Choo choo and all aboard! Sleep in a revamped train cabin at the InterContinental Khao Yai set to open in Aug 2022. Here is all you need to know about this charming new hotel in Thailand!
These elegant yet charming cabins were creatively planned by the renowned architect and interior designer, Bill Bensley. He has designed over 200 hospitality projects across 50 countries.
Why we’re looking forward to this upcoming train hotel in Thailand
The resort will feature an abundance of fantastic shrubs and vines. You’ll find it inside Khao Yai National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. The unique train cabin theme is a homage to Khao Yai’s history as a busy train hub and gateway to northeast Thailand during the reign of King Rama V from 1868 to 1910.
The resort will feature 45 rooms along with 19 suites and villas inside converted heritage train cars sourced from all over Thailand. A few of the rooms are decorated with luggage racks, railway signage, and bunkbeds used in trains from before.
Sustainability was also in mind during the conceptualisation of this resort. Given that the old train cabins are reused, this has reduced the number of new materials consumed to build this resort. Moreover, Bensley planned out this resort in such a way that takes into consideration the natural environment of its location.
The one-bedroom King Classic is the cheapest room, while the King Premium is the most expensive. The latter comes with a private mountain view and pool. As of writing, the next rooms available are for Oct 2022 as the hotel is already fully booked for Aug and Sept. So, book in advance if you hope to visit this hotel in Thailand soon!
