Ever wondered how cold -18°C actually feels? Well, now's your chance to find out without booking a flight! Decathlon's popular Winter[proof] Capsules are making a comeback, allowing shoppers to step inside specially designed cold rooms that simulate freezing temperatures inspired by winter destinations such as Chamonix in France and Harbin in China.
But this isn't just about experiencing the cold for fun. The capsules are designed to help travellers test their winter jackets and other cold-weather gear in realistic sub-zero conditions before heading overseas. After all, there's a big difference between trying on a winter jacket in an air-conditioned Singapore store and finding out whether it can keep you warm in freezing weather!
This year, Decathlon is also bringing the experience to Orchard Road for the first time, with pop-ups at The Centrepoint and ION Orchard, alongside four Decathlon Experience Stores across Singapore.

Not sure what winter clothes to buy? Decathlon has personal shoppers to help!
If you've never experienced winter before, shopping for cold-weather clothing can feel a little overwhelming. Do you really need thermal wear? Is a puffer jacket enough? And how many layers should you pack if you're heading somewhere with sub-zero temperatures?
To make the process easier, Decathlon is introducing its first free one-on-one Personal Shopper Experience, where dedicated Winter Experts help travellers choose suitable clothing for their upcoming holidays.
Instead of simply picking out the thickest jacket on the rack, eligible customers can receive recommendations based on their specific travel itineraries, expected temperatures and family needs. For instance, someone planning a winter city break may need a different combination of clothing from a traveller heading to a snowy mountain resort.
There's one important detail to know, though. During its initial launch, this personalised service will be exclusive to selected top loyal Decathlon members, who will receive a dedicated link to book their complimentary consultation.
Winter jackets from S$29.90? Here are some affordable essentials

Preparing for a winter holiday doesn't necessarily mean spending hundreds of dollars on cold-weather clothing. As part of WINTER[PROOF], Decathlon is expanding its winter collection for adults and children, including new Doudoune styles and practical winter essentials designed for different temperatures.
The collection draws on the expertise of Decathlon's Quechua and Simond design teams, based at the foot of Mont Blanc in the French Alps. Here are some highlights from the 2026 collection:
1. Doudoune Padded Jacket: S$39.90
Looking for a lightweight winter jacket without stretching your travel budget?
Decathlon's Doudoune Padded Jacket is designed to provide warmth in temperatures down to -6°C. It features flexible fabric for easier movement and is machine-washable and quick-drying.
It's an option worth considering for travellers looking for a practical outer layer, depending on their destination's weather and how they plan to layer their clothing.
2. 3-in-1 Winter Jacket: S$149.90
For travellers visiting destinations with unpredictable winter weather, versatility can make packing easier.
This 3-in-1 jacket features a waterproof outer shell and a reversible inner down layer, offering five different ways to wear it.
It's designed to provide protection in temperatures down to -9°C, according to Decathlon, making it a potentially useful option for travellers who want flexibility when dressing for changing conditions.
3. Ski Jacket: S$99.90
Planning to try skiing or spend time on snowy slopes?
Decathlon's Ski Jacket costs S$99.90 and comes with waterproof and windproof protection, integrated wrist cuffs and a snow skirt designed to help keep snow out.
These features make it particularly relevant for travellers planning winter sports activities.
4. Kids Padded Jacket: S$29.90
Travelling with little ones? Decathlon also has a dedicated range of children's winter clothing.
Its Kids Padded Jacket is priced at S$29.90 and offers thermal protection down to 0°C. The jacket features a soft fleece lining and water-repellent fabric that helps protect against light rain and snow.
5. Doudoune Winter Boots: From S$49.90
A good winter outfit isn't complete without suitable footwear, especially if you're travelling somewhere snowy or icy.
Decathlon's adult Doudoune Boots, priced at S$69.90, are rated for temperatures down to -28°C. They feature a waterproof membrane and SNOWCONTACT grip technology designed for better traction on snow.
For younger travellers, the Kids Doudoune Boots cost S$49.90 and are rated down to -13°C, with a waterproof membrane, SNOWCONTACT grip technology and a wide opening for easier wear.
These temperature ratings are provided by Decathlon. Actual comfort and protection will depend on factors such as layering, weather conditions, activity levels and individual tolerance to the cold.

First time travelling in winter? Here's how to layer your clothes properly
One of the biggest mistakes first-time winter travellers can make is assuming that a single thick jacket is enough to keep them warm.
In reality, dressing for winter is often about wearing the right combination of layers rather than simply choosing the bulkiest outfit.
To help travellers prepare, Decathlon has introduced a three-layer dressing system as part of its WINTER[PROOF] campaign.
Here's how it works:
1. Base layer: Keeps you dry
This is the layer closest to your skin, usually consisting of thermal tops and leggings. Its main purpose is to help manage moisture and keep your skin dry, which is especially important when you're moving between heated indoor spaces and cold outdoor environments.
2. Middle layer: Keeps you warm
Think fleece jackets, insulated tops or other warm clothing that helps trap body heat. This layer provides insulation and can be adjusted depending on how cold your destination is.
3. Outer layer: Protects you from the weather
Your outermost layer acts as protection against cold winds, rain and snow. Depending on your destination, this might be an insulated winter jacket or a waterproof and windproof shell.
Decathlon's layering guide covers several temperature ranges, including 0°C to 5°C, -10°C to 0°C and below -10°C.
Of course, don't forget other winter essentials such as gloves, scarves, warm socks and suitable footwear, especially if you'll be spending long hours outdoors.
The key is to check the forecast for your specific destination and activities instead of assuming that all winter holidays require the same clothing.
