Escape to these yoga retreats in Thailand where you can leave the stresses of life behind and focus on the well-being of your body, mind and soul.

It’s hard to find your centre in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. If this is a struggle that just sounds too familiar to you, perhaps it’s time to consider a wellness break. Thailand offers a wide range of yoga, fitness, and overall wellness retreats for the body, mind, and soul. Here are some retreat centres and wellness resorts where you can slow down, reconnect and focus on your well-being.

1. The Yogarden at FitKoh

The original Yogarden studio and café in Fisherman’s Village has closed, but the yoga school has since relocated and joined FitKoh in Ban Tai, Koh Samui.

A great find for travellers who want to combine yoga with a broader fitness programme, the Yogarden continues to offer classes led by founder Bonnie and other instructors. Daily practices may include Hatha Vinyasa and slower-paced Yin yoga, with breathing and meditation incorporated into selected sessions.

FitKoh’s retreat packages also combine yoga with activities such as strength training, Muay Thai, hikes, breathwork, massages and nutritionally planned meals. Accommodation is available nearby, including private bungalows with rooftop spaces that can be used for yoga or meditation.

This is now more of an active fitness retreat than the quiet garden studio described in the original article, so check the latest class schedule and package inclusions before booking.

2. Samahita Retreat

This slice of heaven sits along a quiet stretch of beach on the southern coast of Koh Samui. It continues to receive praise for its peaceful location, quality of yoga classes and sumptuous healthy buffet.

Samahita has been operating since 2003 and now offers customisable yoga, breathwork, fitness and wellness programmes throughout the year, along with fixed-date retreats and yoga teacher training courses.

Daily programmes can include dynamic and restorative yoga, meditation, breathing practices, core training and indoor cycling. Wellness therapies such as massages, infrared sauna sessions and sensory-reduced float therapy are also available.

Known to be a suitable venue for dedicated practitioners, those still experimenting with yoga poses will also enjoy this wellness retreat, as its regular classes accommodate different experience levels.

3. Kiri Private Reserve, formerly Soneva Kiri

One cannot begin to describe how luxurious it is to stay at Kiri Private Reserve on the secluded island of Koh Kood. Formerly known as Soneva Kiri, the resort adopted its current name in 2025.

From its spacious private-pool villas and personal hosts to its forest and coastal setting, what else could you ask for in a luxury holiday?

Aside from dining in a treepod among the rainforest canopy, stargazing at an observatory, and indulging in an outdoor movie theatre, the hotel is also home to a rainforest spa offering traditional therapies and wellness treatments. Private activities may include yoga sessions, although this is a luxury resort with yoga available rather than a dedicated, fixed-schedule yoga retreat.

Prepare to leave your shoes at the door when you get to this “no shoes, no news” hideaway. As the property has undergone a change of ownership and restructuring, confirm its latest availability, transfer arrangements and wellness programmes directly before booking.

4. Chiva Som Yoga For Life

This five-star wellness resort has been offering exceptional services for health and well-being for almost 30 years. Armed with its team of experts — yoga practitioners, physiotherapists, naturopaths, and many others — Chiva-Som begins each stay with a consultation so that its programmes can be adapted to the guest’s goals and needs.

Its Yoga for Life retreat combines group classes or private sessions with meditation, breathing exercises and traditional cleansing practices. Guests may also choose from a wider schedule of activities such as Hatha, Vinyasa and gentle yoga, Pilates, tai chi, stretching, fitness classes and meditation.

The resort is equipped with a yoga pavilion that offers a wide range of classes alongside an extensive selection of massages, therapies and wellness treatments. Some activities or private sessions may incur an additional charge, so check the inclusions attached to your selected retreat.

5. The Sanctuary Thailand, Koh Phangan

The Sanctuary is a long-running wellness resort tucked away on Haad Tien Bay in Koh Phangan. Its secluded location gives it a “secret island” atmosphere, although reaching it requires a little planning.

Most guests travel by taxi boat from Haad Rin. When waves are too high, transport may instead involve a rough journey along jungle tracks. Arriving after dark is not recommended for first-time visitors, and the resort advises guests to plan their journey according to the weather and boat schedules.

Nestled in the remote jungle of Haad Tien Bay, this rustic retreat combines yoga and meditation with detox programmes, healing treatments, workshops and a relaxed social atmosphere.

Despite its isolated setting, the resort now provides 24-hour electricity and Wi-Fi. However, transport in and out of the bay can remain difficult, particularly at night or during poor weather. The Sanctuary is also primarily adult-oriented and does not provide extensive facilities or services for children.

If you are looking for a polished conventional resort, this may not be for you. Those who appreciate a more informal jungle setting, communal atmosphere and varied wellness programme may find its unconventional combination especially appealing.

6. Jungleyoga

This remote retreat paradise will definitely make you focus on your centre, as there are few of the distractions normally associated with a conventional resort. Its floating venue is located on Cheow Lan Lake in the Khao Sok area and is surrounded by rainforest and limestone karsts.

Accommodation is simple, with floating wooden bungalows connected by walkways. Some rooms have ensuite bathrooms, while others share a separate bathroom pavilion.

You will be living and breathing yoga, meditation, jungle trekking, lake swimming, kayaking, cave exploration and stargazing, and you’ll experience living in a floating camp amid a dramatic landscape and the sounds of the surrounding rainforest.

Connectivity is limited, and guests are encouraged to disconnect from social media. There are also no ATMs at the venue or lake pier, so bring sufficient cash for extras such as massages, snacks and tips.

Jungleyoga does not operate like a conventional hotel that can be booked at any time. Retreats take place on selected dates and are led by different facilitators. Participants must book directly through the teacher or organiser listed on the current schedule.

7. Vikasa Yoga Retreat

This cliffside resort is situated between Lamai and Chaweng Noi on the island of Koh Samui. With its established reputation, ocean-facing yoga salas and broad range of programmes, it has become a popular option for yoga retreat hunters worldwide.

Vikasa Yoga Retreat prides itself as a “boutique yoga resort [with an] organic restaurant offering an inspiring yoga environment.”

Its flexible Vikation programme allows guests to choose their own dates, subject to a minimum stay. Rates include a private room, twice-daily healthy meals, unlimited group yoga classes and access to facilities such as the infinity pool and private beach.

Travellers seeking a more structured experience can choose from fixed-date signature retreats or personalised wellness programmes aimed at beginners, stress management, healthy cleansing practices or deepening an existing yoga practice.

Serious yogis may want to consider this centre as it offers a 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher-training programme several times a year, along with advanced and specialist training courses.

Retreat schedules, accommodation categories and inclusions can vary considerably between these seven properties. Before confirming your wellness holiday, check whether your selected rate includes accommodation, meals, classes, transfers and treatments, and whether the programme is suitable for your current fitness and experience level.
