If you have already crossed the Causeway for cheap food, grocery hauls, and massages, it is time to add one more item to your JB itinerary: the photobooth. Johor Bahru has quietly become a hotspot for affordable JB photobooths, with quite a number springing up in the past few years. One thing that is unbeatable is the price point it offers, however. Whether you are heading over solo or with your whole squad, you can walk away with a stack of printed memories for well under S$10.

Why JB Photobooths Are Worth the Causeway Trip

Back in Singapore, a single photobooth session can easily set you back S$15 to S$30. In JB, however, the exchange rate works firmly in your favour. Most booths charge around RM15 to RM30 per session, which translates to roughly S$4.25 to S$9, sometimes covering your entire group. Furthermore, many JB studios throw in printed copies, soft copies, and props at the same price point, a combination that Singapore booths rarely match. So, if you have been looking for a reason to plan a day trip across the border, this is a pretty compelling one.

Here are seven booths that come in comfortably under S$10 per session, grouped by area so you can plan your route efficiently.

City Centre (Near the Causeway)

This cluster is the easiest to reach straight off the bus or train, making it ideal for short day trips.

Snap-a-Boo (City Square JB) is perhaps the most well-known name among the affordable JB photobooths that Singaporean day-trippers frequent. Located on Level 3 near Padini, it charges RM15 (~S$4.25) for two strips. Retakes per frame, a digital copy, and a timelapse video are all included, making it hard to beat for value.

Cult Classics on Jalan Dhoby is only about five minutes from the customs checkpoint, making it a natural first or last stop. At RM30 (~S$9), it sits at the higher end of this list, but its retro aesthetic has earned it a devoted following among those who want photos with real visual character.

Skudai / Paradigm Mall

Both booths here share the same mall, so you can easily visit both on the same trip.

Snap-a-Boo (Paradigm Mall JB) offers the same reliable RM15 (~S$4.25) experience as its City Square sibling, with props, filters, beauty effects, digital downloads, and a video included.

KPIX Photobooth is on Level 4 of the same mall and also charges RM15 (~S$4.50) per session. Since it is right upstairs, KPIX makes for a natural second stop, ideal for those who want to compare styles without leaving the building.

Beyond the City Centre

These studios require a short Grab ride but reward the effort with more space, more props, and even lower per-person costs.

Kacha Kacha Studio in Taman Ekoflora offers exceptional group value. Its Express package starts from RM20 (~S$6) for up to five people, which works out to just over S$1 per person. Additionally, the studio has a wide range of quirky props and welcomes walk-ins. Do note that it is a Muslim-friendly space, so plan your visit accordingly.

FotoWith in Taman Mount Austin is worth adding to your radar, especially if your group enjoys a Korean Life4cut-style experience. For RM20 (~S$6), the Express package gives you six minutes of unlimited shots, high-resolution prints, and a clicker so you control every frame. Moreover, the studio stocks professional-grade props and even has a dedicated spot to photograph your printed strips, a fun touch for your IG stories. Walk-ins are welcome daily except Wednesdays, from 1pm to 9.45pm.

Seshoot Studio in Taman Sri Pulai Perdana starts from RM10.60 (~S$3) per person. Its Express package costs RM25 (~S$7.50) for two, and includes five minutes of unlimited shots, soft copies, and one printed photo. Larger groups can opt for the Standard or Premium tiers, bringing the per-person cost to roughly S$3 each. Bookings can be made on their website here. Note that they lack an official Instagram page.

The Film at Midvalley Southkey has gone viral on Lemon8 for its transparent film aesthetic. Base sessions start at around RM15 (~S$4.50) and include soft copies, two printed photos, and a video. Moreover, the extensive prop and costume selection makes it a favourite for groups who want something a little more editorial.

Making the Most of Your Visit

With so many affordable JB photobooths across different parts of the city, a little planning goes a long way. First, visit on a weekday to avoid queues, since popular malls like City Square and Paradigm can get crowded on weekends. Second, bring small ringgit denominations, as many studios do not accept card payments. Finally, check each booth's Instagram or TikTok page before heading over, since opening hours vary and several close on specific weekdays.

A quick trip across the Causeway, a handful of ringgit, and you will have more than enough printed photos to fill a scrapbook without the Singapore price tag.
