Best Spots to Catch the 2026 New Year Fireworks in Singapore

Spots to hit if you’re not busy eating 12 grapes under the table

As someone who never misses the New Year’s Eve fireworks, I’ve gathered my favourite spots across Singapore, from heartland neighbourhoods to iconic city skylines, along with a few insider tips to help you make the most of the countdown.

Heartland Countdown

I’ve always watched fireworks in the city, but the first time I caught them at a heartland celebration, I was blown away. The fireworks were much closer to the audience, which made the display feel extra spectacular, and being nearer my home made the journey back a breeze.

If one of this year’s heartland locations happens to be near your neighbourhood, I’d definitely recommend checking it out. The People’s Association will release full details, including programme highlights for each venue, in early December.

2026 Heartland Locations: Boon Lay, Keat Hong, Marsiling, Nee Soon, Punggol, Tampines, Woodlands (No fireworks at Woodlands)

Migrant workers can also join in the celebrations at more than 10 dormitories and five recreation centres: Kranji, Penjuru, Soon Lee, Terusan and Tuas South. It will feature live performances, food stalls, carnival games, and lucky draw prizes.

Esplanade

This one’s my personal favourite. Although it gets a little crowded, the view of the fireworks from outside the Esplanade is unbeatable. For something more relaxed, there are restaurants nearby where you can sip a drink while watching the show unfold across Marina Bay.

Instead of squeezing with the crowds outside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, head to The Promontory. It’s more spacious, and you can spread out a picnic mat for a scenic, laid-back countdown under the stars. The last time I came here, though, the rain decided to join the party, so my fireworks photos didn’t quite work out.

Bay East Garden

For the 2025 countdown, I cycled to Bay East Garden from my home to catch the fireworks. While the ride was lovely, the display felt quite far away, and my photos didn’t turn out great. Still, it’s a peaceful option if you prefer to avoid the city centre crowds.

Marina Barrage

If you’re looking for a relaxed spot with one of the best skyline views in the city, Marina Barrage is a fantastic choice. It’s one of those places where you can spread out a picnic mat, unpack some snacks, and enjoy the fireworks in comfort. The wide open space makes it perfect for groups or families, and the breeze from the bay adds to the festive mood.

You’ll also get a beautiful view of the Marina Bay skyline. Ideal for photos as the fireworks burst into colour at midnight. Just be sure to arrive early, as it’s a popular spot that fills up quickly once the evening begins.

Boat Quay or Clarke Quay

If you prefer to enjoy the fireworks over drinks or dinner, these riverside spots are perfect. Many restaurants and bars along the quay offer outdoor seating facing Marina Bay, so you can toast to the new year with a great view (and no need to fight through massive crowds).

Hotel Rooftops

Now, this is an option if you want to escape the crowds completely. There’s something magical about watching the fireworks from a rooftop, snacks, a drink in hand, music playing softly, and the city skyline lighting up right in front of you.

Of course, it’s not the most wallet-friendly choice since you’ll usually need to book a night’s stay to access the rooftop, but I find it worth every cent for the comfort and privacy. No jostling for space, no sweaty crowds, just the quiet excitement of counting down to midnight from your own little oasis high above the city.

If you’re planning to treat yourself this New Year’s Eve, check which hotels have rooftop pools or bars with Marina Bay views. It’s one of the best ways to welcome the year in style.

If you’d prefer a livelier setting, get ready to ignite your New Year’s Eve celebrations at Singapore’s biggest beachside countdown on Sentosa Island. Spanning the breathtaking Siloso and Palawan beaches, the island transforms into a vibrant party paradise as night falls.

There’s something for everyone here, from high-energy dance parties and live entertainment to family-friendly festivities that run from evening till late. As the clock strikes midnight, look up to catch not one, but two spectacular fireworks shows lighting up the night sky across the island.

Highlights include the New Year’s Eve Countdown at ACC9SS: PAC-MAN Carnival, island-wide celebrations across multiple venues. A mix of both free and ticketed events. Countdown at Sentosa promises an unforgettable start to the new year.

Insider tips

Whichever spot you choose, arrive early, pack some light snacks, and bring a portable fan. Singapore’s humidity doesn’t take a break, even on New Year’s Eve. And if you’re heading home by public transport, check for extended MRT and bus hours, which are usually announced closer to the date.

Here’s to a dazzling countdown and a spectacular start to 2026!
