Virgin Australia Flight Attendant Says Goodbye Amidst Covid-19 Outbreak

"There's every chance that this may be our last operating flight. It will be our last for the foreseeable future."

A New Zealand-based Virgin Australia flight attendant bid a poignant farewell to loyal passengers and her beloved workmates during an in-flight announcement on her final shift. 

During the unfeigned and heart-rending speech from the despondent flight attendant, she can be seen fighting hard to hold back her tears as the airline announced that it would be closing its New Zealand bases and cutting trans-Tasman routes, as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to loom.

The unprecedented move will impact 500 New Zealand-based staff including Cassy Appleton. Watch the the flight attendant’s emotional farewell as she was overcome with nostalgia rehashing her bittersweet journey below. You might need to wipe your tears away after you’re through.

Cassy Appleton took to Facebook to pen her heartfelt thoughts, along with video of the announcement she made as her final flight landed in Dunedin. The post received an overwhelming response and was shared more than 5,000 times.
