During the unfeigned and heart-rending speech from the despondent flight attendant, she can be seen fighting hard to hold back her tears as the airline announced that it would be closing its New Zealand bases and cutting trans-Tasman routes, as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to loom.

Cassy Appleton took to Facebook to pen her heartfelt thoughts, along with video of the announcement she made as her final flight landed in Dunedin. The post received an overwhelming response and was shared more than 5,000 times.
