Russia Introduces E-Visas to 53 Countries, Including Singapore

Farewell, hefty consular fees!

Starting October 1, 2019, passport holders and citizens of 53 countries can now visit St. Petersburg, Russia’s cultural capital, with an e-visa.

This e-visa will cover St. Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad Region (the full list can be found here.) Do note that the e-visa is still not applicable for travel beyond these specified regions for now.

Earlier this July, Russia granted e-visas to passport holders of 53 countries for travel to Kaliningrad and Kaliningrad Region within Russia.

Unlike a regular tourist visa, an e-visa is free. You can apply for the visa online, which lets you to stay in the region for seven days. The application can be made no later than four and no earlier than 20 days before the expected date of entry.

The visa is valid for stays in St Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad Region for up to eight days. The purpose of travel can be tourism, business, or humanitarian reasons.
