Samsung Is the Best Employer in the World for 2021, According to Forbes Magazine

The South Korean conglomerate earned the highest score out of 750 companies.

If you find yourself online and constantly reading articles about work, then you’ve probably stumbled across a phenomenon called the “Great Resignation.” Millions of workers are taking a long hard look at their companies, realising they’re no longer happy, and choosing to leave the nest for better opportunities.

It’s during this mass exodus of resigning employees that business magazine Forbes has revealed the best employers in the world for 2021. With more workers seeking major career changes and flocking to greener pastures, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

How the best employers around the world were ranked

Forbes collaborated with German market research firm Statista to conduct anonymous surveys among 150,000 full-time and part-time workers in multinational companies from 58 countries.

Participants in the surveys evaluated their companies based on “image, economic footprint, talent development, gender equality, and social responsibility,” according to Forbes. They were also asked to rate their satisfaction with their employers’ COVID-19 response and whether they would recommend their companies to their friends and family members.

Samsung claims the top spot, beating American tech giants such as Amazon and Apple

One of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic devices, the South Korean conglomerate Samsung clinched first place in the ranking, surpassing American tech giants such as Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, and Dell.

“Industry officials said Samsung’s achievement is meaningful as it came amid the pandemic,” The Korea Times explains. “While keeping the safety of its employees as the priority, the company apparently managed its supply chain well to keep up its production and sales.”

As the pandemic goes on, some companies are shedding talented workers at alarming rates. Others are offering competitive packages and embracing hybrid or flexible working arrangements to lure in potential candidates. So, where does your employer fall?
