From the home of the Chocolate Hills, comes another interesting sighting you just can’t miss in Bohol – the Philippine Tarsier (Carlito syrichta). Tarsiers are considered to be the smallest primates in the world – they are about the size of your fist. Try to close your hand and you can just imagine how small they are.

The Philippine tarsiers are not only found in Bohol, they can also be spotted in other parts of the country like Samar, Leyte and Mindanao but the tarsiers in Bohol are widely known because of the 7,000 square metre tarsier sanctuary in the town of Corella which is run by the Philippine Tarsier Foundation.

Many local tour operators in Bohol offer land tours that include visiting the tarsier sanctuary. If you’re more of a DIY person, you can arrange your own tours with the drivers at the Tagbilaran port. Plenty of tricycle (tuk-tuk) drivers are eager to take you around the different attractions at a reasonable price.
