Kaneohe Sandbar

The Kaneohe Sandbar, also known as the Sunken Island or Disappearing Island, is the major attraction of Kaneohe Bay in Oahu, Hawaii. It is a football-sized stretch of sand that is the most desired destination for sailboats, kayakers and beach bums alike.

Much as you’d like to frolic in this paradise any time you want, you just cannot do so. You can only enjoy the white sandy island and the turquoise oasis only at low tide. As the name of the island suggests, it disappears during high tide and appears again at low tide. Due to this phenomenon, the sandbar has been known as the Atlantis of Hawaii.
