Emirates Will Shoulder The COVID-19 Medical Expenses of Their Passengers

We never expected Emirates to do something like this!

Emirates proves yet again that they’re always one step ahead in providing unparalleled service to their international passengers. On 23 July 2020, UAE’s flag carrier announced that they will be covering the COVID-19 medical expenses and quarantine costs of travellers should they contract the coronavirus while travelling with Emirates. According to their website, Emirates will shoulder medical expenses worth up to €150,000 and quarantine costs worth €100 per day for 14 days.

The airline started this initiative in an attempt to boost the confidence of travellers who yearn to take to the skies as borders gradually reopen. With this, Emirates is the world’s first-ever carrier to shoulder COVID-19 medical expenses during the pandemic.

“Emirates has worked hard to put in place measures at every step of the customer journey to mitigate risk of infection, and we have also revamped our booking policies to offer flexibility. We are now taking it to the next level, by being the first in the industry to offer our customers free global cover for COVID-19 medical expenses and quarantine costs should they incur these costs during their travel. It is an investment on our part, but we are putting our customers first, and we believe they will welcome this initiative,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Group Chairman and Chief Executive.
