Angelina Jolie Just Video Bombed Don Lee During His Press Conference for ‘Eternals’

Both K-drama fans and casual movie viewers will know Ma Dong Seok, aka Don Lee, for his brilliant portrayal of Sang-hwa in Train to Busan, one of the most popular Korean movies to reach international acclaim. In fact, Don Lee is no stranger to action-packed films in South Korea, so it wasn’t a surprise when he was cast as Gilgamesh in the much-awaited superhero movie Eternals! 

The movie, which plays a big part in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stars a lot of popular Hollywood names, such as Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, and the ever so glamorous Angelina Jolie. And would you believe that Jolie, who plays Thena in the movie, actually had a lot of touching words to say about Don Lee?

Don Lee and Angelina Jolie talk about working together

It all started in an online Korean press conference with Don Lee, who used the opportunity to gush about his Eternals co-stars. He described the cast as a very tight-knit group who eventually became like family to him. “I only met the other actors once or twice before we started filming, but we soon became like family. Like good friends or family members, we were always considerate of one another throughout filming.”

Along with this, he described Angelina Jolie as a kind and approachable person. “She’s an incredible person and an amazing actress. She’s also a really good person. She’s very considerate of others, and she made it possible for the other actors to act comfortably,” he shared. Maybe we already knew this considering Angelina’s reputation, but to hear it from Don Lee himself at a time when Asians are being misunderstood all around the world definitely validates what we’ve always known about her.

He even added, “I’ve been in the industry for a long time and Angelina Jolie is a global superstar, but it felt like we were friends who had known each other from a long time ago and were filming together for the first time in a long while.”

Right after, Jolie herself popped in Don Lee’s press conference to say hi to his viewers. “[Working with Ma Dong Seok] was like a dream. I was already a fan, and filming action scenes together was an unbelievable experience,” Jolie gushed.

Based on the press conference, it seemed that the original plan was for the Eternals cast to visit South Korea for the premiere, but it didn’t push through due to COVID-19. Luckily, Angelina Jolie was a loyal friend to Don Lee and showed her support for him during his online press conference. Here’s hoping we see the Eternals cast in South Korea for the premiere of a possible sequel!
