One would probably think of the Tasmanian Devil whenever Tasmania is mentioned, but did you know that it’s one of the best places to travel to in Australia too? Fun fact: 40% of its land is protected as natural areas! Another fun fact: Tasmania’s listed on Lonely Planet’s Top Ten this island-state is one of Australia’s best kept secrets (from tourists, at least), and as spring beckons at the land down under pretty soon, get ready to experience one of Mother Nature’s most beautiful creations on earth!

Tasmania is a must-visit if you’re a big fan of animals, because across the globe, this is the only place where you can find the extremely cute Tasmanian Devil! (No, not the Looney Tunes character.) There’s no better place to check out these devils then at the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, an ‘unzoo’  that strives to move away from the traditional zoos and wildlife parks, choosing instead to allow their furry residents to live as wildly as possible, which also allows for its human guests to get up close and personal with the free animals!

And, of course, let’s not forget all the amazing natural sceneries that the exceptionally clean and green Tasmania has to offer. Head down to this place in Spring and join in the festivities of the Bloomin’ Tulips Festival, where events occurring over a three-week period celebrates the, duh, blooming of tulips that can rival that of the flower fields in Holland! Indulge yourself in a whole host of food, drinks, music, and activities as you marvel at the kaleidoscopic beauty of these tulips.

Tasmania offers many other scenic landscapes for you to soak in Mother Nature’s creations as well, if you’re not that big a fan of flowers. Take for example the Mole Creek Caves, where you can venture on a tour of the Marapooka Cave that’s adorned with crystals, pools, stalactites and stalagmites, and, most beautifully, glow worms!

Or chill at the numerous beaches that dot this island-state, with its pristine white beaches and turquoise blue waters, especially that of Bay of Fires, aptly named so due to the large, bright-orange granite rocks that line this beach.

If not, then head on over to Cradle Mountain, arguably one of the most scenic landscapes that Tasmania has to offer. Think: stunning glacier lakes, spectacular mountain peaks, and dazzling wildflowers in the summer! Beautiful. Just, beautiful. To make the best out of your visit to this site, stay at the Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge to spend some quality time for really exploring around!

And the food, of course. Let’s not forget about the food. But wait! Why go to any other ordinary restaurant or cafe when you can enjoy fresh seafood straight from the waters? That’s right, folks, with the Tasmanian Seafood Seduction, embark on a cruise from Hobart and watch as divers fish for your meal before your very eyes. Enjoy the magnificent view of the waterfront as you munch on your lobster, abalone, sea urchins, salmon, oysters, the works!

Finally, chill your Saturday away at the Salamanca Market, where you can fully immerse yourself into the Tasmanian culture with food, music, jewellery, clothes, music… You name it, they have it. With nearly 300 stalls, there’s definitely something for everyone at this iconic Tasmanian market!

The possibilities in Tasmania are truly endless, and one visit will probably not be enough to soak in all that this place has to offer. But, hey, why let that stop you? Go twice, three times if you have to! Happy travelling!
