Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2016: Giving Ex-Offenders a Second Chance

Come join Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2016! Give yourself a chance to join the run, give ex-offenders the second chance in their life.

While there’s a long list of fun runs happening in Singapore this year, here’s a totally different run you MUST participate in — The Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2016.

It’s definitely NO ORDINARY RUN. What makes this race unique from the rest is that it gives ex-offenders a second chance in life. After being released from prison, many ex-offenders find themselves literally stepping into a second prison, a prison with invisible bars, of suspicion, mistrust and discrimination. While you battle against exhaustion in the run, they struggle against stigmatisation in their life.

Come join Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2016, and be inspired to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders. This year’s Yellow Ribbon Prison Run promises to be more exciting than ever with a huge line-up of activities before, during and after the run.

The race route takes runners past prison sites, such as Lloyd Leas Community Supervision Centre, Changi Women’s Prison, Tanah Merah Prison, Changi Prison Wall, and lastly, the end point — Changi Prison Complex. At the end point carnival, there will be a Rehabilitation Fair showcasing how the community can make a difference to an inmate/ex-offender’s journey toward acceptance.

You are invited to join the race for a meaningful fun packed day, with exciting activities like live performance by the our Performing Arts Centre inmates and community band, zumba moves before the race and the end of it, get a temporary yellow “tattoo”/face paint and many other entertaining activities!

What’s more, it comes with a race pack consisting a Puma brand T-shirt, Finisher’s Medal, E-certificate (only for 10km Competitive Run participants), and Sponsor’s goodies. For more information about the race pack collection, please click here.

Meb Keflezighi, U.S. Olympic marathoner once said, “Like the marathon, life can sometimes be difficult, challenging and present obstacles, however if you believe in your dreams and never ever give up, things will turn out for the best.”

Proceeds raised from the run will go to Yellow Ribbon Fund, which supports rehabilitation and reintegration programmes of ex-offenders, their families and their children.
