Lastly, you can’t give the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Choeung El Killing Fields Memorial a miss, two of the most-visited areas in this city. While slightly more on the sombre side, this visit would definitely be memorable and enlightening, as you immerse yourself into the history of the harsh Khmer Rouge regime.

The most important, the must-visit, the ‘duh, of course I went there’ place that you cannot afford to miss when in Siem Reap would most definitely, most undoubtedly be the magnificent remains of Angkor Wat! This big, beautiful temple complex is one of the most monumental architecture in the world, left behind from the Khmer Regime. I could go on and on about this gorgeous monument all day, but why don’t you fly over and find out more about it yourself?

Of course, there’s more to this city than Angkor Wat. Do also check out Angkor Thom, capital city from the magnificent Khmer Empire of the past. With towering carvings and statues of figures from Khmer’s culture and beliefs, these magnificent, otherworldly sights are sure to wow. With these ruins already so impressive, just imagine this place in its heyday. (And yes, this was where Angelina Jolie was kicking some ass as Lara Croft!)
