Millennials today love having autonomy and flexibility in their travel plans, tapping the wonders of technology when they travel, and prefer not to be confined by run-of-the-mill packages and standard vacations following strict schedules.

Planning trips on your own also mean your pre-trip to-do list is longer, you have to be on top of things, and will not have a dedicated tour guide reminding you what to do.

Singapore’s largest ground handler, SATS, has rode on changing millennials’ travel preference, launching its Ready To Travel app. It aims to be a personal travel concierge so travel experience can be hassle-free. Travellers are also supported with seamless connectivity with SATS’ existing physical ground handling touchpoints.

The app accompanies travellers throughout three stages of travel:

Pre-Trip

Travellers can create their own itineraries by selecting travel experiences through the itinerary sharing feature with all travel companions or selected users.

They can also opt to receive notifications on passport reminders, visa applications or eRegistration with MFA, and also make in-app purchases of travel insurances, attractions or pocket WiFi with doorstep delivery.

Near-Trip

Travellers will receive relevant reminders between 72 to 24 hours before the commencement of their trip, so necessary preparations to be made to enjoy a hassle-free trip. Reminders include weather updates, transportation options, estimated travel duration and SATS premier lounge access.

On-Trip

On the day of travel, travellers will be able to navigate their way real-time point-to-point advice through four airports – Singapore Changi Airport, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Tokyo Narita Airport and Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport.

Reminders include Timeline displays with key milestones of the trip such as time to check-in, lounge and departure gates, in-app purchase notifications throughout the trip, and travel notices and advisories from MFA on travellers’ countries of destinations.

Alex Hungate, SATS President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “The millennial generation is now entering the peak of their careers and they are disrupting the travel industry and changing the way people travel.  With Ready To Travel, SATS becomes the first ground handler to offer a seamless service that integrates the physical and digital aspects of the customer experience.”

The app can be downloaded from Apple App Store and Google Play.
