Johor Opening 14 Caravan Parks Soon for Road-Trippers!

Caravan trips in Johor will soon be a thing with the opening of caravan parks across the state!

Great news for those of us dreaming of a road trip! Instead of flying all the way to Australia or the US, we can now just hop over to Johor! And we’re not just talking about renting a car…

Johor has announced their plans to open up caravan parks in various locations. A caravan road trip – how awesome is that? These caravan parks are situated in various national parks, many of them close to exciting tourist attractions.

Hooray! We can save some money on air tickets AND experience great caravan trips in future! 

Here are some of the locations of these caravan parks:

1. Bio Desaru Organic Food Valley, Kota Tinggi

The first caravan park that was announced is Bio Desaru Organic Food Valley. One acre of land will be developed to allow tourists to park their caravans here for an organic farm camping experience!

2. Pantai Air Beach, Mersing

Pantai Air Beach, a sandy beach facing Pulau Setindan, is a popular destination for locals. This is the great place for fishing enthusiasts;  fishing competitions often take place here. Pantai Air Beach is the perfect location to build sandcastles, have a suntanning session, and simply enjoy a relaxing weekend with your friends or family.

3. Mount Ophir Recreational Forest, Tangkak

There is one important thing you need to know about this place: there is a durian orchard in this area! What is more pleasurable than savouring delicious, fresh, creamy durians from the orchard by the waterfall? Oh, just think about the aroma of durian that will fill your caravan after your durian feast…

4. Tanjung Leman Beach, Mersing

Imagine reaching Tanjung Leman Beach after a long, tiring ride in the caravan, and being welcomed with the warm orange sunset and skies. Stay for a night, gazing at stars, and recharge your body and soul.

Tanjung Leman is a coastal area in Johor, located south of Mersing. The Tanjung Leman Beach is popular among the locals, and you should visit it too.

5. Punggai Beach, Kota Tinggi

Punggai Beach is the perfect place for stargazing by the sea, singing nursery rhymes to your kids while putting them to sleep under the “twinkle, twinkle, little star”.

6. Tanjung Penyabong Beach, Mersing

Tanjung Penyabong is a place in Johor near to Pasir Temenggong and Bukit Penyabong. Instead of staying in one of the resorts at Tanjung Penyabong Beach, just sleep in your caravan! But only after a delicious barbeque dinner by the beach…  

7. Mount Pulai Recreational Forest, Kulai

Mount Pulai Recreational Forest at Kulai is a stunning place, one that you simply must visit during your Johor caravan trip. This eight-hectare forest is home to a variety of animals and plants – definitely a paradise for explorers and nature-lovers. There is even a magnificent waterfall for you to have a cool dip after hiking in the hot weather. Mark this place for your future caravan trip!

8. Mount Soga Recreational Forest, Batu Pahat

Drive to Batu Pahat in your caravan to hunt down delicious food, or go to Wet World Batu Pahat if you feel like taking a swim!

9. Mount Panti Recreational Forest, Kota Tinggi

Mount Panti is just a few kilometres north of Kota Tinggi in Johor. It’s famous for birds-watching activities and hiking. What are you waiting for? Magnificent views await you at the peak.

10. Sungai Bantang Recreational Forest, Segamat

Sungai Bantang Recreational Forest is a hotspot for picnic trips. A natural ecosystem with dense forest, rocky trails, streams and a little waterfall, this place is a great escape from the bustling city! Relax and immerse in nature. Can’t wait to drive the caravan here for a sleepover in the rainforest!

11. Kuala Sedili, Kota Tinggi

If you’re sick of the bustling city lifestyle, drive over to this small fishing village. Even though the villagers have stopped fishing for a living, you can still do so! Grab your fishing rods, catch your dinner and barbeque it beside your caravan later.

12. Mount Arong Recreational Forest, Mersing

This is a forest reserve in Mersing District of Johor where visitors can enjoy the cooling and refreshing stream that runs through the forest. If you love hiking, there are a few footpaths and jungle treks for your next adventure. You can also visit the Forestry Museum which exhibits a wide array of forest products, and they include descriptions of its usage and history.

13. Mount Belumut Recreational Forest, Kluang

Mount Belumut is the second tallest mountain in the state of Johor, located about 30km east of Kluang town. It is a favourite nature hangout spot for the locals and was named after the large numbers of slippery and slimy stones that are found throughout the mountain. Not surprisingly, Mount Belumut has challenging paths for hikers. A beautiful waterfall is located within reach, about 40 minutes from the start of trekking point – great for lazy trekkers who just want a dip in cool, clear waters.

14. Tanjung Piai National Park, Pontian

Welcome to the southernmost tip of Peninsular Malaysia (and the continent of Asia). Here, sign up for a fireflies trail guided tour to get close to these tiny flying lightbulbs. After that, retreat back to your caravan for a good night sleep and who knows, maybe one or two of those little creatures will come along too.

Caravan Parks in Johor are still in their development stages. Johor Tourism Board has engaged a tour agency in Permas Jaya to provide caravan rental services, and there are plans to develop more facilities for the caravan parks like toilets and even cafés.
